St Peter and St Paul Catholic Primary School follows Islington guidelines regarding authorised and unauthorised absences. We request that all absences are reported to the office by 9.30am.
If a child is not reported absent by half nine, the office will contact the family. On the day the child comes back they need to bring in a letter or send an email explaining the absence.
The school monitors attendance every half term. We are required to identify all children who have attendance of less than 90%. Therefore, if a child’s attendance falls below 90% in any half term, the school will write to the parents advising them of this and we will monitor the child’s attendance to see an improvement over the following term. If their attendance does not improve, the school will write to the parents again. If there is still no improvement, there will be a meeting with the headteacher to discuss the reasons why the child’s attendance continues to be below the expected minimum. At this point, a decision will be made as to whether to refer the child’s continued low attendance to the local authority.
Punctuality
The school gate opens at 8.45am and will be closed at 8:55am. After this time, children are considered late. Once the late gate is locked at 9.05 am, children must come via the main entrance. Parents are responsible for signing children into the late book..
If a child is regularly late, we will follow the same procedure used for attendance before making a referral to the local authority.
